10 THINGS YOU MISSED AT #IGNITEMF10 DAY 1

It is the time of the year again where we celebrate local music. This year is extra special to us because it is our 10-year anniversary! In the spirit of all things 10, here are 10 things you missed out if you couldn’t make it to #IGNITEMF10.

1. WE FELL IN LOVE WITH FALLING FEATHERS

We kicked off day one with a bang with Falling Feathers! The pop rock singer started his set with his debut song, Perfect. The 22-year-old who recently got signed with Warner Music Singapore left the girls swooning with his recently released single, Hush.

2. WILL LEW BE MY MUSE?

Gracing the stage next was none other than Lew Loh. Along with Joie Tan, their chemistry was evident when they performed Reality from his debut album, Lullacry. How we feel about Lew is the exact same title of his last song for the day - Loved You So. We love Lew (pun intended)!

3. EYES ON SUBSONIC EYE

As the sun was setting, the stage was still hot because we had the cool kids from Subsonic Eye! The dream-pop quintet ushered the night perfectly with originals like Sun Kissed Skinned from their new album, Strawberry Feels.

4. HEY JUDE, THE NIGHT IS STILL YOUNG!

Since the night was still young, we thought it was very apt to get Jude Young to perform. Performing both covers and original songs, he certainly made IGNITE! feel like Coachella with his honey smooth vocals. I mean, how could anyone resist swaying to Cold, Young and Radiohead’s High and Dry?

5. WE’RE NOT LYING WITH TELL LIE VISION

Did anyone call the firemen, because Tell Lie Vision set the floor on fire! The crowd were left hot on their feet with hits like Surrender and crowd favourite - Reconcile. TLV, you guys truly are the pride and joy of RP’s Jammerz Arena.

6. TRIBUTE TO CHESTER BENNINGTON

Many of y’all would know of the recent demise of Linkin Park’s frontman. Everyone around the world mourned the the passing of Chester Bennington, including our local musicians. As such, TLV paid tribute by performing their latest song, WARD7B3. Chester must have been rocking to it somewhere up there.

7. DANCING WITH JASMINE SOKKO

Don’t be tricked by her shy-like aura, Jasmine Sokko actually packs a punch on stage! Putting the crowd in a trance with songs like 1057 and Paint Me Gold. Jasmine Sokko? More like Jasmine SokKOOL.

8. INSTAGRAM-WORTHY VILLAGE

What is a festival without its village? This time round, our festival village is located right in front of the main stage. Talk about killing two birds with one stone, you can go shop to your hearts’ desire without missing out your favourite acts! Besides, it’s so pretty, you can paktor over there! (Psst, speaking of insta-worthy, Singapore's social media sweetheart Xavier Lur featured us on his Twitter!)

9. WATCH OUT BOYS, WE HAVE SAM RUI

Boys and girls, we had Sam Rui for #IGNITEMF10! The R&B songstress belted out songs like Don’t Lie and Let’s Get Coffee from her newest album, Season 2. She also dedicated a cover of The Way by Kehlani ft Chance The Rapper to her homeboy, Rich Chigga. She ended her set with the crowd chorusing Better with her.

10. THE ULTIMATE LIMPEH

What better way to close day 1 of #IGNITEMF10 than having ShiGGa Shay? He teased and hyped the crowd with head-bopping hits like Panda and All I Do is Win. But what got the crowd crazy was when he came in with Limpeh, like a limpeh. ShiGGa even covered Post Malone's Congratulations. He remembered his roots with Lion City Kia and took everyone away with Tapau.

If you weren't at #IGNITEMF10 (why?!), we still have day 2 tomorrow with acts like YouthWreck, Amateur Takes Control and THELIONCITYBOY. Come and celebrate the 10th anniversary with us, it's going to be lit!
